Enguerran, tell us about RENT - what is it, and who attends?

 fair, or RENT, is the largest event in France dedicated to real estate innovation and proptech. This is the second year Marketer attended, and it did not disappoint! More than 11 000 real estate professionals attended, with 400 companies present and 100 startups showcasing innovative products and services. 

This year, Patrice Vergriete, France's Minister of Housing, was on stage to discuss the future of real estate in the country. All the market leaders are there, including real estate agency networks, property developers, portals, software companies, and media groups.For Marketer, the RENT is an amazing opportunity to catch up with all our clients and their teams, as well as bonding with our new partners such as MGC Connecting.

What were the main topics at RENT this year, and what is top of mind for French developers?

This year decarbonation and climate tech have been dethroned by AI! A majority of workshops, events, live talks and corridor conversations were focused on AI; what is it, can it help real estate, how to properly leverage it to boost operations - the list goes on.

Fortunately, Marketer has been involved in leveraging AI technology for the real estate industry since day 1. We can give advice and guidance about AI trends, but above all provide concrete solutions that can help real estate developers thrive in a challenging environment.


What are your key takeaways from the event, and will you be back next year?

My key takeaway is that new technologies are increasingly shaping the future of the real estate industry. Innovation such as AI is being widely adopted by large companies and SMBs alike, because it provides a solution to a challenging context. The paradigm shift is happening and Marketer will stay at the forefront by continuing to develop relevant and leading-edge technologies. 


The RENT is always fun to attend, and it is a real pleasure to hang out with our growing network of clients and partners. We will be back next year!

A few weeks ago, Enguerran Licari, our Country Manager in France, attended the annual RENT conference held in Paris. This event, spanning several days, was a whirlwind of activities including numerous meetings, engaging presentations, insightful keynotes, and valuable networking opportunities. Following the event, we sat down with Enguerran to delve into his main insights and takeaways from the conference.

Key takeaways and insights from RENT 2023

Join us as we chat with Haakon Dalseth, and explore his progression at Marketer from Strategy Consultant to VP of Strategy & Finance. We discuss his key projects, challenges, and his vision for the company's future, offering insights into the daily life at one of Europe’s leading proptech firms.

How has your journey been since you started at Marketer?

My journey at Marketer has been both fun and challenging, and full of very varied work. I have been a part of the strategy team, and worked on developing our overall corporate strategy, as well as leading the implementation of strategic initiatives and improvement projects across Marketer and its subsidiaries. This has contributed to improving the company’s performance and has strengthened the foundation for further growth and scale. 

We have also spent a lot of time on M&A and funding activities, and I have been part of the due diligence, acquisition, and integration of three different companies. In addition to this, I have been responsible for starting and developing one of Marketer’s newest ventures, Easy3D, acting as head of the company.


Over time, my role has broadened in scope, and I have been trusted with more responsibility. During the first half of 2023, I spent a few months as Marketer’s interim CFO. I learned a lot from this experience, and it was an important step towards my new role.



What are the primary focus areas in your new role?


As VP of Strategy & Finance, I will be responsible for strategy and business development activities in Marketer and other companies in the group, while also being heavily involved in financial activities and reporting. This is part of our plan to integrate our strategy more closely with the finance function, to enable better decision-making, improved financial performance, and overall organizational effectiveness. In this new role, my focus areas will span across strategy, finance, M&A, and funding.


I believe that Marketer is at a very exciting point where we now have a robust and stable foundation, positioning us well to accelerate and sustain strong growth and performance going forward. Some focus areas that will be important in the short- to medium term include 1) realizing all synergies from recently acquired companies, including cross-selling, upselling and operational efficiency gains, 2) continuing the international expansion through both direct sales and partnerships, 3) ensuring successful commercialization and scale-up of our newest products like Plot.ai and Easy3D, 4) further strengthening the group through additional strategic M&A activities to achieve synergies and geographic market expansion. In addition, we of course need to keep perfecting our core products to make sure we stay the preferred end-to-end provider for digital marketing and sale of real estate.


Successfully managing these topics, combined with the newbuild market eventually bouncing back, will keep us on track to becoming Europe’s #1 proptech group.

Working at Marketer is great! It is a fast-moving environment full of smart and creative people. I have learned a lot in the relatively short time I have been working here, across a wide spectrum of topics. Employee insight: Haakon Dalseth's Journey to VP Strategy & Finance

Eight years ago I pursued my dream of studying in the United States, by 2018 I had completed my bachelors degree in Business Management, and worked as an account manager at a market research start up in New York City. After a year I moved to Oslo and ended up at Tripletex, working as a customer service representative for their accounting firm partners. It was an incredibly fast paced environment where I grew a lot personally and professionally, and gained some awesome experiences and life long friendships.


I was happy and content, but looking for another challenge - in September 2022 I went back to New York for a masters degree in Business Analytics. I had always wanted to pursue a masters degree, and this one year program was a great chance. At this point I felt like I had all the experience and tools I needed to choose a path that I would really love. I am passionate about building solid relationships with clients, and I enjoy getting to know new people and making their jobs easier.

Why did you want to join the Marketer team?

I was looking for yet another challenge, and I had long been interested in the property industry. Technology is such a central part of our life and something that I really enjoy working with, and Marketer had the perfect opportunity to combine both property and technology. Every day we are moving from manual processes to digitized ones, and if you’re not moving forward you’re moving backwards. 

Marketer is changing the property landscape and it’s such an exciting journey to be a part of. From my very first meeting with the company I had a great first impression; their mission, values and culture closely aligned with my own, and I was very excited when I got the opportunity to work with such a great company.

How has your onboarding experience been so far?

It’s been great so far! I’ve learned so much about the product and industry, and everyone’s been so welcoming. I learn best by doing, so they’re giving me all the responsibility I want and feel comfortable with, while guiding me along the way.

If you had to teach a class on one thing, what would you teach?

I would probably teach something within customer relations and customer service. Knowing how to speak to customer service professionals and how to speak to customers/clients is a very valuable skill. Most of the time your business revolves around building relationships, both internally within the company and externally. 

In my opinion, everyone should at least try to work within customer service, to see what it’s like to be on the other side of those requests. Being kind and polite is probably a great start, the rest you can learn in my class.

My name is Oda, and I'm the Head of M1/M2 Auto at Marketer Technologies. I started as a Customer Success Intern in September, after finishing my MSc in Strategic Marketing Management. My internship began in Oslo and continued in London. I have previously studied in Brisbane and Barcelona, so the move to London was something I found very intriguing.


Why did you apply for an internship at Marketer?


After finishing my master's, it was important for me to have a seamless transition from an academic to working life. Because of that, I found myself looking at different internships and Marketer Technologies was one of the companies offering that. I thought it would be very interesting and exciting to take part in the growth of an entrepreneurial company. My interest in digital marketing was enhanced during my studies and since Marketer focuses on digital marketing, the position as a Customer Success Intern seemed a perfect fit. Additionally, it was very appealing that the first part of the internship would start in Oslo and continue in London.


I started my internship in Oslo in September, where I was introduced to the system and platform we utilise. A big part of the first period revolved around 'learning by doing' and I commenced on my future tasks the first day, with good help and assistance from my own supervisor and the team around me. Among other things, I controlled the quality of campaigns, as well as some more general administrative and operational tasks. I also got an introduction to some of the digital tools I was set to use, such as Google Ads and Facebook Business Manager.

Marketer is a place where you can easily grow and move forward as a professional, which I got first-hand knowledge of after two weeks when I became responsible for the automation process of one of our clients. To know that your supervisors, team and leaders trust and believe in you is extremely important and motivating. I enjoyed a steep learning curve throughout my internship, with an increasing amount of responsibility and knowledge.


I recently became the Head of M1/M2 Agency, something that motivates me greatly. It is also humbling that I was offered to take on such a responsibility quite early on in my career at Marketer. My days consist of both challenging and fun tasks, and I am responsible for the people on my team and our clients in the second-hand property market. Most of the work I do centres around upholding deadlines and making sure that we create a product that satisfies our clients.

How do you find the working environment at Marketer?


I've received impeccable help and assistance from both my team and others throughout the course of my internship, which has been extremely valuable. I find Marketer to be a transparent company, with a lot of openness and communication. For instance, I report to our CEO on a daily basis, have weekly meetings with my team and make fortnightly reports to our HR department.

I've become part of a group of young, like-minded people and I've felt included since the day I started. There's always someone you can brainstorm with and ask for advice or tips, which is very helpful. It is social to be at work and I'm looking forward to going to work every day. After moving to London, we've become a tight-knit group and with offices at WeWork, we often take part in different events after work.


"It's been a true joy to have Oda on the Auto-team. We're a good team that works and collaborates really well - both in terms of communication and with different tasks. We update each other continuously regarding the campaigns we are working on and when these are ready to go live. Oda is extremely efficient and takes part in creating a good working environment at the office. She is open and willing to learn, and has acquired knowledge of different processes quickly".

She has undertaken many big tasks and assignments, and she also got responsibility early on - a task she has executed with great success. In addition to be good at what she does, Oda spreads a lot of joy to the people around her. I am impressed with how knowledgeable and fearless Oda is, for instance when she moved to London with us without any hesitation".
